The village of BONNIEUX is perched on a narrow, steep ridge and rises from the flat plain below up to the 12th-century church at the top. The view from Bonnieux is over plain, with its vineyards, fields and cherry orchards. Further in the distance one can see the the hills of Vaucluse and the Mont Ventoux range.

The 'new'' church built in 1870 with its pointed steeple sits on the slope in front of the lower village and is visible from this picture taken from the old church  (right)
